Sandra Melin — Hand-painted pine bedside table, portrait of Elvis

A bedside table hand-painted with an image of Elvis

This hand-painted pine bedside table is an original creation by Sandra Melin, made in 2026. The artist depicts Elvis Presley, guitar in hand, in a nervous and focused pose reminiscent of his iconic stage performance. The piece is no longer merely a functional object; it becomes the canvas for a fully realized figurative artwork. Signed and unique, this piece will immediately appeal to pop culture enthusiasts and lovers of unusual decorative furniture.

The technique: acrylic on wood

The portrait is painted entirely in acrylic directly onto the wooden headboard. Elvis's face and costume are rendered in shades of gray and warm browns, while the guitar stands out in deep black. This controlled treatment contrasts with the energy of the background and gives the painted headboard its depth.

A colorful street art bias

Around the figure, the artist splashes blue, orange, green, and yellow, firmly establishing the work within a street art aesthetic. This chromatic explosion animates the four visible sides of the piece, transforming this Elvis-themed bedside table into a true conversation piece, designed to be viewed from every angle.

Features and format

Compact, the bedside table measures H 75 × W 34 × D 26 cm (H 29.5 × W 13.4 × D 10.2 in). It retains its original top drawer and door, both fully functional, allowing it to be used daily as a bedside table, end table, or side table, while also displaying the artwork. Its vertical format makes it easy to integrate into even a small interior.

Conservation state

A recent work dated 2026, this hand-painted bedside table is presented in excellent overall condition. The acrylic paint is fresh, even, and well-adhered to the wood. The artist's signature appears at the bottom of the main panel, confirming the piece's unique nature.

This piece captivates us with its audacity: taking a humble pine bedside table and transforming it into a painted tribute to the King is precisely the kind of gesture that makes a work of art truly engaging. It's far from mass-produced—here, every splash of paint has been applied by hand, making each piece unique. For those who love Elvis, pop art, or simply objects with a story to tell, this is a wonderful introduction to the work of an emerging artist, at a still-accessible price. A real gem for those who prefer to live with a work of art rather than simply hang it on the wall.
