Françoise Luciani – Abstraction constructed through gesture
Françoise Luciani is a contemporary French artist whose work unfolds between geometric rigor and optical vibration. For more than two decades, she has developed a unique visual language, based on manual cutting of papers and the collage on foam board, without any recourse to digital technologies. Each piece is the fruit of a precision work, thought of as a balance between formal structure and intuition of rhythm.
Trained in plastic composition as much as in the sensitivity of the material, Françoise Luciani places her approach in the tradition ofconcrete, constructive and non-figurative art, while giving it a tactile and poetic dimension. His favorite material, the paper, becomes a living material under his hands: cut, folded, superimposed, it generates ripple, relief and light effects that transform space. Each work acts as a vibrant visual field, a graphic breath, a fragment of interior architecture.
His compositions, often structured in grids, squares or vertical bands, dialogue with the great principles ofoptical art (Op Art), while standing out from them by their character entirely handcraftedThe gesture is slow, radical, rigorous. It reveals a work that does not seek to seduce immediately, but to capture attention through depth, silence, and matter.
A renowned artist, between galleries and international fairs
Present in many exhibitions in France and internationally – from the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in Paris to the Guoyi Art Museum in Beijing, via Art Lima in Peru and Lyon Art Paper – Françoise Luciani has succeeded in seducing a demanding public, sensitive to abstraction and the unique artistic object. Her works are now featured in private and public collections, notably at the Frank Popper Contemporary Art Center (Marcigny) or in the La Praye Collection (Fareins).
