1 500 €

Omega De Ville “Emerald” | Andrew Grima Design | Cal. 625 | Ref. 711.1805 | Circa 1973–1975
During the early 1970s, Omega commissioned celebrated British jewellery designer Andrew Grima to redefine what a wristwatch could be. Rather than merely designing new dials or cases, Grima approached the watch as wearable sculpture, introducing bold geometric forms, architectural crystals, and integrated bracelets that blurred the line between fine jewellery and haute horology. These revolutionary creations became part of Omega’s celebrated “Time in Style” collection, one of the brand’s most artistically ambitious design projects. References inspired by Grima remain among the most collectible and historically important De Ville models today.
Reference 711.1805 perfectly reflects this philosophy. Its striking octagonal “Emerald” case is defined by an elevated faceted crystal that mimics the appearance of an emerald-cut gemstone, creating dramatic reflections from every angle. The minimalist midnight-blue dial intentionally avoids unnecessary decoration, allowing the geometry of the case and crystal to dominate the design. Thin gilt hands and discreet printed text complete an aesthetic that feels more like contemporary jewellery than a conventional wristwatch.
Powering the watch is Omega’s respected Calibre 625, an ultra-thin manual-winding movement introduced for the De Ville collection during the late 1960s. Known for its elegant proportions, smooth winding feel, and dependable reliability, the calibre allowed Omega to create exceptionally slim dress watches without sacrificing precision. Combined with the woven 18K gold-plated integrated bracelet, the watch achieves an unmistakable presence while remaining remarkably comfortable on the wrist.
Unlike many vintage dress watches of the period, the Grima-inspired De Ville models were produced in relatively limited numbers and represented Omega’s highest level of experimental design. Their combination of avant-garde aesthetics, documented design heritage, and manufacture mechanical movement has made them increasingly sought after by collectors of both vintage Omega and twentieth-century design.
