Sedia Wassily B3 by Marcel Breuer for Gavina

An icon of 20th-century design, the "Wassily" chair (Model B3) is offered for sale in its most refined configuration: a chromed steel tube frame and a high-quality white leather seat. Designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925, this chair marked the beginning of modern design, transforming an industrial material into a domestic art object.

Design and history:
The distinctive feature of the Wassily chair is its revolutionary use of seamless steel tubing, inspired by the frame of the Adler bicycle. The structure is a geometric interplay of continuous lines that support taut leather straps, creating a seat that appears to float in mid-air. Indeed, according to Breuer's vision, the chair was to be transparent, lightweight, and industrially produced, perfectly embodying the functionalist aesthetic of the Bauhaus.
It was the first chair to use tubular steel for domestic use, breaking completely with the tradition of heavy, upholstered furniture.

Conditions of the room:
The Wassily chair for sale is presented in optimal general condition.
Structure: The chrome structure is solid and intact, with only a few signs of wear and age that enhance its vintage charm. It retains its original shine thanks to recent cleaning and polishing.
Upholstery: The overall patina of the high-quality white leather evokes that captivating vintage "sense of history" that only premium leather can offer. The upholstery has been cleaned, disinfected, and treated with professional conditioning products to restore its appearance and softness.
Authenticity: the authenticity of the item is guaranteed by the Gavina label present on the structure.
