Contemporary coffee table in the shape of a pig, made of handmade ceramic tiles by Bussoga

Taula Porca — Pig-shaped coffee table, made of handmade pink ceramic tiles by Bussoga

Taula Porca is a whimsical yet meticulously crafted coffee table in the shape of a pig, entirely covered in handmade pink ceramic tiles. This remarkable piece is part of an ongoing collection of animal-shaped furniture by Bussoga, a Barcelona-based design studio known for its experimental use of ceramics and tiles.

While Bussoga traditionally uses screen-printed ceramic tiles for murals and patterns, this collection adopts a new method: a smooth tile coating. Each tile is individually shaped using pliers, diamond grinding wheels, and bits, resulting in a textured and sculptural surface that merges craftsmanship, humor, and surrealist influence.

Initially inspired by rural iconography, the Taula Porca is part of a series that includes pigs, sheep, cows, sharks, and crocodiles. The project was presented at the Madrid Design Festival 2024, where Bussoga was featured among a new wave of "rural designers."
