This 116201 is made of gold and steel, including the bracelet and bezel.
One of the biggest changes Rolex has made to its business in recent years has been the switch from 316L to 904L stainless steel. The ref. 1162XX series was the first Datejust to be made from this new alloy.

Reference 116201 is a 36mm watch. For many, 36mm is a relatively small watch (at least by modern standards), but the Datejust still has this strange knack for defying perceptions that apply to virtually all of its competitors.

The Rolex Datejust (inspired by the Rolex Bubbleback) was first introduced in 1945 to celebrate Rolex's 40th anniversary. The Datejust is one of the earliest Rolex models still in production today.
Since its debut in 1945, a groundbreaking launch that put the brand on the map, it has remained at the top of the company's best-selling list for three-quarters of a century.

Rolex's Datejust ref. 162XX series of watches first emerged in 1988, replacing the relatively short-lived 160XX range.
