In her Taftique studio in Florence, Dutch artist Jules Vissers transforms an ancient tradition into modern works of art. There, she designs and creates hand-tufted and embroidered tapestries using high-quality Italian threads. She graduated with honors in Textile Arts from the Florence Academy of Art and won the 2024 European Textile and Craft Award from the European Textile Academy in Bolzano, Italy, for her work. She regularly participates in art and design events such as Milan Design Week, Dutch Design Week, and the Florence Biennale. She is a member of Homo Faber, a guide to European excellence in craftsmanship. Her art pays homage to nature by using only natural threads and those made from recycled fibers and local deadstock.
