it is a “Snowite” item, in chrome plated zinc. Rolex had registered the trademark Snowite in February 1927 and used it extensively throughout the late 1920s and early ‘30s. The original idea behind this combination of metals was that the resulting effect would be an eye-catching one, with the chrome having a distinctive ice blue gleam that was subtly different from that of a standard chromed brass case.
